Seniors are so photogenic. They are so willing to do whatever you ask...their pictures always turn out amazing! These pictures of K are no exception... her mother and I have been friends for years- since K was a wee one! It's fun to see them grow up, but also scary to be getting older as well!

New Camera!

I am so excited to have bought a new camera. I bought a Nikon D90- which to some may not sound like much, but I couldn't be happier. I did a lot of research on the subject and turns out, this camera is a FAVORITE among many of the pro's out there! Someday I'll look into a D700, or whatever is out there at the time, but the one I bought is fabulous! Just look at these pictures I took of Ali! Crystal clear with a creamy background- finally! A camera that lets me tell it exactly what I want it to do in manual mode!

Yes, it does help to have such beautiful subject matter... Ali is growing up. She turns 8 on Sunday and will be baptized in October! Where has all the time gone?

I've been waiting patiently for my chance with this little one. She's a miracle baby- born 2 months early because of a placenta abruption- she's lucky to be here! She was 3.3 pounds, born on May 14, and still is only half the size Ali was when she was born! She slept the entire time- unless I tried to pose her in a way she didn't like! Congrats on a healthy baby Amy and Barry!

Do you ever feel more beautiful than you did when you got married? I can't think of another time in my life when I felt like such a princess. I've never seen bluer eyes. Usually I bump them up a little in photoshop, but not on this little guy. A little sharpen, and that's it! These are all his!

This little sweety saw her mommy and her whole face lit up! These babies were so fun! Full of smiles!

My friend Michelle and her husband had been waiting years to adopt a baby. Finally their miracle happened, only it was after another miracle- Michelle had gotten pregnant! She and her husband were up for the challenge though, and now have TWO kids, 2 1/2 months apart! So, are they twins? Close enough!

I know, they really ARE the cutest kids ever!! I made them go out in the wet snow for some fun winter pictures, and I wasn't disappointed! They actually had fun doing it too, but there were still a few complaints. I bought a new lens for my camera too, it's a 55mm f1.4 manual... I didn't know about the manual part till I got it, but I know that as soon as I'm used to it, I'm going to love it! Just look at the pictures I got today! I wanted something that would make my subject more crisp and clean, and I am truly impressed! There is some obvious eye-pop going on in most of these shots, but why not? If you've got it, show it off!

There's quite a learning curve with photoshop. I'm totally self-taught, so I'm sure that what I know barely scrapes the surface of what I have left to learn. This isn't necessarily a new skill I've learned, but combining it with other skills has made some pretty neat results! It's fun to have such a beautiful subject to play with!

I've had so much fun with this last project. Shay and Margo were so great to work with. I've had a week now to work on it, and without the rush, I was able to do some really fun things! It has been a while! I haven't been as busily taking pictures lately, it's just too dang cold to do anything in the thriving metropolis of Vernal, Utah! -2, all day today! They didn't even let the kids go to recess! Those poor teachers!
Even though it's cold, I LOVE winter photo's. They are so vibrant, and you can make the colors really pop! I love this family. They recently moved out by me, but when I lived in my old house, they were also in my ward. In fact, Nick was my bishop! I've seen their kids do a lot of growing up. It's crazy how fast time flies!

I just returned from a trip to the hometown for a little photo session with my brother's family. They are some of the best looking people I've seen! And have a few of the cutest kids in my opinion! So, in an attempt to find my true calling, I've been trying a lot of different things. I've always loved taking pictures, but mostly just for scrapbooking and keepsakes. I was always told I had an eye for a good picture, and a creative mind always helps too! But I didn't think I would become quite so obsessed in such a short time. If only it didn't cost money! Now all I can think about is getting a new camera and all the parts to go with it! I want to take studio quality pictures even when it's dark outside. So far, I take pictures in the daylight when I don't need to use a flash, on a white or a black blanket, and all I've done so far are faces... I will get better, I promise!

Our close friends the Faireys have some of the most beautiful girls I've laid eyes on. I couldn't wait to take pictures of them and I was so glad they were so cooperative! This is Ellecia...a.k.a. Ellie. She's my daughter from the other mother... and I love her to death!

This is my Gage. My firstborn- my favorite boy. I love this kid! For the most part he's really easy. He's always been really good to pose for my photo taking as well, but being a boy doesn't help with attention spans!

My Baby Girl

I decided to start a photo blog because my practicing was taking over our family blog. I think it's important to keep a "journal" so to speak, of the things we do on a day to day basis, and even though I've been doing this every day lately, it's taking over the experiences we've had...so I decided this was the best way to filter it all out and still be able to show off my newest hobby!

So first off, Ali. My favorite little girl in the whole world. I love taking pictures of her perfect little face. She has beautiful skin, beautiful eyes and awesome expression. She is getting so good at posing for me and giving me the face I want. I only wish she would mind so well when I am asking her to clean her room, or quit talking back!
